Ramadan is over

And so is my stint at the Missourian as of tomorrow. Then I have to start doing stuff for Phi Mu recruitment. So my summer is basically over.

I wish I could have a little bit more summer, there are a bunch of things that I wanted to do over the summer that I just never found time for.

The story I did today about the end of Ramadan really overwhelmed me at first because I was really tired and not feeling like talking to anyone, but then it actually turned out to be pretty straight-forward. I’m also really happy with the way our multimedia project turned out, it’s about a fireworks collection and it turned out a lot better than I expected it to.

This class definitely taught me that a 9-5 job is waaaay harder than regular classes. No time for naps at the Missourian. It’s definitely taught me to remember school isn’t as bad as I might think it is sometimes. It was definitely a weird summer being at the Missourian. Although Columbia was kind of nice without any students, I think I’m ready for everyone to come back so it gets a little more lively. And I’m definitely glad I don’t have to take the reporting class during the regular school year because that definitely would have been way too overwhelming.

But it’s national cat day, so I must go cuddle with Luna now.

Reflections on Humane Society

Sometimes stories are fun and you get to look at tiny kittens and puppies for stories. What started out as a little tip turned out to be a pretty fun story that Isabel and I worked on. We got to talk about fostering animals and it totally convinced us to foster hundreds of kittens if we can. Too bad I live in an apartment and Isabel is going back to Puerto Rico so we can’t get any kitties.

Just keep walking

I am so incredibly glad that this week long story is over. It turned out to be so simple and so straight forward, but it required so many interviews that were complicated to get only for one little bit of news… but it was actually rewarding to find out some news that no one had. I think the story should be pretty good, and it’s scheduled to come out Monday.

With moving this past weekend, and just added stress from that and the squished feeling I’m feeling as the summer session comes to a close, I would say this week seemed like I did horrible, but looking back it was actually alright. I got three articles done (phew) and now I just have to keep my cap on for one more week, ONE MORE WEEK! And then it’s time for sorority recruitment and then classes.

** Let us all take a moment of silence in memory of Summer 2013 **

I had a job interview yesterday and I really really hope I get it. I suppose it’s time to bust out the big guns and write them a hand written thank you note. The interview seemed pretty positive, though!
